Sandblasting, also known as abrasive blasting, is the process of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material through the use of compressed air against a surface under high pressures to smoothen a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface, or remove surface contaminants. Most of the time, sandblasting is used to refurbish material by removing scale and rust from the surface in preparation for the application of new coatings
